The Conditionals in the Collection of The Blind Poet of Tudela: An Applied Syntactic Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to study the conditionals in the collection of The Blind Poet of Tudela (real name: Abu 'l-'Abbās Aḥmad ibn 'Abd Allāh al-Tuṭīlī) through an applied syntactic study, by tracing the conditional particles. The study highlights the syntactic aspect in his poetry and demonstrates his adherence to the rules of language by collecting conditional examples from his collection and analysing them in light of syntactic rules, distinguishing the conditional particles, and studying their effect on the verb.
One of the most important findings of the study is that the poet employs conditional particles in his collection in a varied manner. The use of the conditional particle (إنْ) predominates in his poetry, and syntactic phenomena such as the omission of the conditional answer appears, combining adherence to syntactic rules with deviations from them in a way that serves meaning and poetic rhythm.
